Whew! It has been TOO long!

To Re-cap, since the last post some notable items are as follows:

• Made serious progress on ASASU’s Undergraduate Student Government Website.
• Had a good laugh or two over at The CupCakeLuvr Blog.
• Rode out a HELL of a roller coaster ride in a few classes.
• Read (too much) about Web 2.0
• And as an example, started using some new web apps like Slide
• Oh and I can’t forget Trackslife which fits nicely under my inner yearning to be a GTD master.
• Also one I have been eyeing for a while is Feedburner - (insert plug for joining the revolution of RSS here… seriously, if you don’t know what RSS is, get with it.)
• Dove head first into the “job market” by handing out 30ish resumes, having about a dozen first round interviews so far with a couple second rounders scheduled and a bunch of companies whom I have yet to hear back from. (In fact, I am tracking this whole process with Trackslife)
• As usual, am thinking about a MahiX2.com redesign… CSS Reboot sounds fun (and I’ll be able to plug in Slide, possibly tidy up WordPress with a few plug-ins (like Draftlets), or possibly even switch back to the ever improving MovableType.)
• Speaking of MahiX2.com, I recently got cruel.com’d when they linked to the ‘ole post of the Planes, Trains, and Plantains: the Story of Oedipus english paper. Cruel.com brought in a good 3000 unique visitors in a matter of 3 days also leading to links from other sites… and also leading to an influx in comments by random ass readers (Welcome btw).
• Was treated like a king by Newegg.com (story to come in a seperate post)
• Surely more, but this should hold you over for a while.

In light of another “interesting” semester of Iota Xi coming to a bumpy end I am thinking back at my experiences since joining Alpha Kappa Psi in my first semester at ASU, fall 2002.

I will be the first to say that I have gained countless leadership skills, professional skills, friendships, and many other invaluable assets through my participation in AKPsi. Furthermore, I have countless everlasting memories from AKPsi events such as my entire pledge semester, meeting my wonderful girlfriend, 2003 National Convention and cruising Chicago all night in a Limo, the Hollywood Nights theme party, the Pirates theme party, happily submitting an ACR with a bottom line of 106,000 points, attending Officer Training Camp 2004 at Chapman University, organizing fall ‘04 rush, playing in the 2004 AKPsi Open benefiting the Stephen Vasquez Scholarship Fund, and attending the 2005 Reno Success Institute just to name a few.

Luckily these memories and skills are important to me, I hold them dear, and I refuse to let my vision be clouded. Unfortunately it is taking an increasingly large amount of effort to put down the persistent drama and haste that seems to be constantly building in Iota Xi. No, I’m not just talking about the membership splitting debate of alcohol and it’s place in AKPsi. I think there are at least two issues quite a bit more grave than alcohol. Namely, I think Iota Xi’s number one problem is the idea that bigger is better and that everyone deserves a chance to become an active, and as a close (and very much correlated) secondary problem is the efficiency with which Iota Xi turns off its greatest leaders.

Like most problems, these are ambiguous at best which is why they have developed to the extent that they have. If you care to read my opinion on how these can be addressed, what led to these issues, what changes need to be made, and why it is going to be an uphill battle which I’m no longer interested in fighting, read on.

Our favorite brotherhood event is under way. Let’s just say there are more twists then I could ever have imagined. People are thinking all kinds of things. Someone asked me today if I was flying solo!

Stop kidding yourselves and leave a comment explaining why I should be nice and only spray you a little bit. Or… talk shit and count down the hours til I kill enough teams to get to you.

Apparently someone is not pleased with Alpha Kappa Psi.

Should be interesting to see if we can get to the bottom of who might be behind this, but regardless it is worth a laugh or two to drop by the site.

This morning roughly 50 fliers were posted all over the business college campus with the following quote:

ihateakpsi@hotmail.com”

My first thought after finding out about this and checking out the website was “wow, this person has terrible writing skills, it is a good thing we didn’t let this person in or kicked them out, or whatever we did to get rid of them”. Although my second thought was “wow, they really took initiative to slander us, we could use people with this kind of initiative.”

Unknown AKPsi hater: If you are reading this please contact me. I would be interested in hearing what you are all about, how AKPsi angered you to this point, and if you have any other more financially aspiring ideas that I might be able to get in on. Also, your website looks like dog-shit… I would be glad to hook you up for a price lower than you can find locally.
